Germinating pine seeds

Germinación Reforestación

Usually, the germination percentage of the different varieties of pine is up to 80%.

It is important to mention that many of these seeds present an embryo lethargy, so it is advisable to immerse them in water for 24 hours at room temperature, this process is called scarification.

Subsequently, they must go through the process called cold stratification, subjecting the seeds to temperatures of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius for 30 days, this considerably increases the percentage of seed germination.

It is recommended to sow at the time of year when temperatures below 14 degrees Celsius are not reached, once the plants have sprouted, they are more resistant to low temperatures.
